A schedule should work around meal and nap times and allow for the children to have plenty of independent and collaborative work time, as well as time for outside play. There should be a presence of both teacher-led activities and student-led activities. Additionally, the schedule should be consistent as often as possible, disregarding holidays and school closures.

A good early learning environment is one that is welcoming and supportive for not only the children, but the parents and childcare providers. Where there is good communication, support, and there is a focus on safety. Children should feel excited to learn and know that they are safe and cared for in the environment.

This benefits both provider and child and allows the program to adjust lessons or activities as needed.
