Document, document, document. Get feedback from coworkers on what to say. Listen to the families. Show concern for the child. Show evidence and proof. Be ready for pushback, and ultimately know it is up to the families. Have resources ready to share. Give them time.

By observing, we can note and remember each child’s developmental milestones, skillsets, culture, and personality. All of these can then be used as we build individual curriculums for learning with appropriate activities that scaffold the child to the next set of skills.

I see no reason for screen time for young kids, even young elementary kids. They genuinely do not need it, unless maybe to call parents if they are in unsafe situations. Otherwise, there are more harmful impacts than good. A few movies or TV shows are fine once the kid is kindergarten age.

Have lots of staff ready to assist! This makes it easier for kids to get the attention they need. Training staff to always be aware, even to nonverbal cues, helps kids feel heard.

I would talk to Ms Hopkins. Ask her what is going on, is there a reason she is late? Is there anything the center can do? Approach with concern and curiosity, not annoyance or judgment.

I discovered that the WACs are very detailed and cover every single thing possible, even stuff I didnt think had to be said. I was not really surprised by any of them, they all made sense. There is a lot to keep track of and it is important to be detail-oriented.
