My biggest worry about keeping them safe is that I would accidentally do something that impacts their ability to learn in a meaningful way. Also, keeping them physically safe on the playground can be challenging.

  • A creative way to get children engaged in learning about diversity and respecting each other’s differences is by having a day where the center has food and does activities that celebrate the culture of each child. This is a good way to welcome students who may have different cultures and backgrounds. You could teach a few words to the kids in the language used at home and maybe do some traditional dances or art to help celebrate the cultures of the students.

A serve and return activity with a child would involve letting a child pick a book then the caregiver reads the book to them, making sure to stop and acknowledge when the child points to something in the book.
