First thing I discovered was about the form we were to fill out and that there are no questions in any of the documents given like it suggested. That was frustrating, but then I just assumed that we were to form our own questions based on the information given, so that’s what I did. I wish I would have thought to visit this forum first and see that the resources have been updated, but the form we were to fill out haven’t been and that’s where the confusion comes in. Anyway, back to the question at hand:
I discovered that Washington is VERY serious about childcare and who gets to administer it, what their qualifications are and how best to train them and monitor them. I discovered that they are very determined to make the rules and regulations universal within the state and I find that very comforting as I’ve worked in other states where it seemed every facility had their own guidelines.
I wasn’t really surprised about any of the rules, just about how very thorough they were. There really is no way to be confused about what exactly is required of you as a owner, parent or staff.
I can see using these WACs everyday, but it taking decades to memorize. Thankfully, that isn’t required as we have these handy resources to refer to as needed.
