The WACs is Comprehensive Guidelines. These cover a broad range of topics, including child-to-staff ratios, health and safety standards, physical environment requirements, and staff qualifications.

I’m surprised by the depth of detail provided in the WACs, such as the exact ratios of caregivers to children in different age groups, specific requirements for daily schedules, or the precise way that health records and emergency plans should be maintained.

The WACs help establish structured routines for children, focus on Safety: The guidelines around child-to-staff ratios, health and safety procedures (such as emergency drills), and physical safety (like keeping dangerous objects out of reach). The WACs emphasize the importance of appropriate staff training in areas such as child development, behavior management, and communication skills.
