I could have a break and take deep breaths. I could also change activities and talk to someone I trust.

I am honestly not sure, I feel this quite often with many things. I feel stress can really impact my ability to be present.

It is important to breath and practice our own calming techniques. Talk openly with peers. You alone cannot solve the problem. It is true that it takes a village.

Self care—starting with the basics of plenty of rest, nutritious food, adequate hydration, regular movement, and social engagement and support—are immensely important in working through and healing from compassion fatigue. Rest, and seek support, both socially and professionally.

When I experience compassion fatigue I know I need to take some time for myself and regulate those emotions back to normal. Praying, reading and getting fresh air helps me regulate those emotions.

Seek help by talking with friends, family and even reaching out to therapy. It can be very draining to care for so many people and kids. Finding the ability to love yourself is going to be the only way you can start caring about others again.

If you have compassion fatigue you have to take care of yourself. Eat well- balanced meals, get enough sleep and make time to exercise.

In order to address and overcome compassion fatigue, it is crucial to take proactive steps that are needed such as self-awareness, self-care practices, seeking support, mindfulness, taking breaks, and engaging in professional development.

Be open with the care team so we know how to best support each other in these instances. Consider if you need a break or mental health day and lean on your support circle.

I try to take a few minutes just to go through my thoughts and then when I have a few minutes I try to talk it out with friends, family members, and even colleagues.

I communicate to co-workers who understand what it is like. I change some things within how or how much I take on and allow others to help when I can. I also make sure to take time away from working and taking care of others when needed.
