The tips i would give for a new teacher who is creating a schedule would be is to take it easy, its hard to learn at first but getting into the swing of things is always hard, especially when its worth it.

As far as maintaining it, keep your classroom in a general direction after each activity to keep their focus.

When creating a routine for children, I would say its easiest for them to adapt to the routine by keeping It simple, have them be consistent with the routine to where they know what step comes next and can do it with independence and confidence. make the routine fun for them, as they will be more likely to follow that routine and remain engaged when following the tasks.

It is important to plan each activity not too short or not too long because their attention span is shorter. we should have balanced activity throughout the day.

Make sure to include a balance of activities, including active play, quiet time, and learning activities.
Consider the developmental needs of the children in your care when creating the schedule. C
hildren thrive on predictability and routine so try to stick to a consistent routine each day.
Be flexible and willing to make changes to the schedule as needed.
Involve the children in creating the schedule, giving them choices and opportunities to contribute to the daily routine

By involving children throughout their daily routine. Some examples could be assigning them jobs to help the classroom be more successful also, making sure teachers always share positive feedback when the children are doing what they are supposed to do.

I think involving the children in routine layout aside from eating times would be a fun activity for them. I liked the suggestion in the video that the children can “check” themselves into school from home when they arrive. Also the group acknowledgement of when one activity is done and they are moving onto the next was good. I know as an adult, it feels good the check things off the list so I’m sure children might enjoy that aspect as well.

Do you have any tips or advice on creating and maintaining a daily schedule for children?

my advice would be to allow the child to interact with knowing what his or her schedule is every day so that it because routine for them and less stress and confusion will arise.

I find it very helpful to have a group meeting with the kids I work with. However, many of them have very wiggly bodies and maintaining their attention is a challenge. It is important to keep group meetings like this short with younger children, as dragging them on will only leave everyone frustrated. Encorporating songs or movement is another great way to make these periods go more smoothly and keep engagement up, especially if you use songs or movement to aid in the transitions in and out of these group times.

Announcing changes prior to movement, facilitating indoor/outdoor transfers, and allowing children to feel control over certain activities can allow for smoother transitions and better learning.

Start with check in time, schedule meal and free time, and in between fill in spots with a mix of group and individual activities (small and large).

Keep it simple. There is no sense in over-complicating the daily schedule. Start opening and closing then move to times with food, then move to activities, and then nap time. Make sure you are not stressed because off the kids will pick up on it, and it will make them stressed as well.

Make sure to consider individual needs, involve children in the daily structure/schedule, and be sure to regularly evaluate and adjust. Be sure to observe how the children respond to different activities and routines.
