Working with children is very rewarding and very emotional work. Are there any techniques you’ve found to release stress?
– take a walk
– practice deep breathing
– listen to a podcast
– take a bath

MemberFebruary 12, 2024 at 2:11 amAt my school we do something that i call the pass off and return and this is when another teacher will usually check in with the present teacher and see if they need an assist or moment and when that teacher does step out, the other teacher will continue to follow up with the child but also explain the feelings the other teacher might have had. When the teacher has had a minute to calm down and the child is ready, they both are brought back together to finish talking it out and this will usually end with a hug and a reminder that feelings are important and we should all feel them safely.

Help them by talking to them and trying to find something that will help relive them and help them feel better, and let them know that you’re not alone and that you can talk to an adult you trust

I find that reading, listening to music, singing, deep breaths, or taking a walk help me the most.

in the classroom when i cannot remove myself, i think about how their little minds dont understand and im their teacher for a reason. i usually swap with the other teacher and we help each other when we see us struggling.
