I like taking deep breaths and if possible walking away for a few minutes. When I am having trouble with a child experiencing difficult behavior I see if another teacher can take over the situation or at least help me defuse the situation.

I like to exercise after a long day at work to help relieve stress, but during a particularly stressful moment breathing and grounding techniques can help prevent a situation from escalating and can help you regulate. It is important to prioritize a work-life balance and set strong boundaries with yourself and your employer.

I try to be as understanding as possible and remember kids are not trying to be bad.

For me, deep breathing, affirmations, and focusing my attention to the feeling touch for a few seconds have been my immediate responses to stress I encounter in the classroom. To deal with stress away from the classroom, I like to drink water, listen to music, watch something, and journal.

Ways to reduce stress include: listening to soothing music, talking a walk away from the situation to breathe and calm down, reading for a few minutes as well as, taking breathes stepping outside to get fresh air.

Ways that I reduce my stress while at work is breathing or seeing if I can step away for a moment. depending on what I am doing, if I change directions and work on another activity and come back to what was frustrating for me after I calmed down it is much more helpful. After a stressful day I like to relax and listen the music as well.

I find that laughing often and focusing more enjoying the people I’m with more then the stress of the situation I’m in. Deep breathing also always helps and making sure that I myself am well rested before a stressful situation.
