Many different types of breathing techniques have been very successful for me. Also, not putting a child in time out, but giving them a quiet and more private space to let out their emotions usually works for me, going with the child to allow them to talk to me without outside distractions has worked.

Deep breathing , going outside to get fresh air and walk run around with the kids . Talk to somebody and release yourself and feelings going on a walk around the house listening to music and dancing also helps to relive any stuck feelings or stress .

Going for walks during breaks can be helpful. Also, grabbing a coffee or getting something to drink can be calming.

I find that a regular, scheduled break or a quick minute or two in a quiet space helps to restore my calm and maintain my energy for working with children. This can be going to the office to make a copy or cup of tea. Time is not as important as the ability to simply step away from the classroom activity briefly.

Sometimes I find in a class headphones to cancel out noise works if a child is stressed or overstimulated. Breathing. Sometimes going and hugging a pillow or stuffy. Or if a need to release anger, throwing the pillows into a safe corner.

Take a minute to step away and take a deep breath if needed, don’t get too ahead of yourself, and focus on the positives when everything seems overwhelming.

When my class gets super stressed out we have a dance party. They have fun and get all their wiggles out.

The best techniques I have for dealing with stress is deep breathing and remembering to take time for myself and do things for me. It’s good to like your job but not get consumed by it.
