A good work/life balance is necessary, having boundaries is essential, I usually share fun anecdotes about my day or describe why it was a hard day with my partner then I go about my life and do some self-care. I think not bringing work into life and life into work is super helpful

Though out the day, I remind myself to take a few deep breaths to re-center myself. Out of work, having meaningful activities, relationships and joy is essential to balance the sometimes very stressful situations at work that can overwhelm thought.

I find it helpful to recognize when I’m getting close to being overwhelmed and inform a coworker. This allows us to work together to reduce stress. It’s also always okay to say you need a few minutes out of the room as long as there is someone to step in with you.

I like to find things in nature and my off days to ready me for the week ahead. Walks and activates with my family and friends.

Taking time away from other people to relax and decompress. Journaling so that I can understand what the stressors are and how to handle them. Getting exercise and fresh air. Talking to a therapist or friend. Making sure that I am fully rested and eating well,

I give myself plenty of time before coming to work to let myself workout, read, meditate, cook a good breakfast.

Taking time for myself when they leave. Getting lots of rest and finding hobbies outside of the child care.

One technique that helps me with stress management is drawing, coloring, or painting. I usually feel like I need to express what I feel without being loud or stress others around me, so I usually carry around a pen and a small notebook with me to sketch what I feel. When I’m at home, I usually paint or color some sketches to feel better. I do find it more relaxing when I’m listening to music while I draw.

honestly my biggest help and trick I have been using my first year in daycare is doing calm breathings WITH the child when we are in a situation where we both are upset or if I am overwhelmed, I invite the kid to breathe with me so we can settle TOGETHER and then proceed forward. It allows me to still remain present with the child, gives grace and healthy coping skills for me in stressful days, and shows as an example kids can learn from observing and doing that will benefit them in later life.

Absolutely, working with children can be incredibly rewarding but also emotionally demanding. It’s important to find ways to manage and release stress to maintain your well-being and effectiveness in your role. Some techniques that can, be helpful are Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques (meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, etc.), Physical Activities (reg workouts, stretching, jogging, etc.), Selfcare Practices (my fav, hobbies and interests, pamper yourself, message, journaling, etc.). Incorporating these strategies, you can effectively manage stress, maintain your well-being, and continue providing high-quality care and support for the children in your classroom with your all.

Working with children is very rewarding and very emotional work. Are there any techniques you’ve found to release stress?

As an educator, it is important to self-care, read a book, exercise or cook a special recipe.

Working with children can be rewarding but also stressful. To manage stress, try deep breathing, taking short breaks, and engaging in physical activity like walking or yoga. Talking to a friend, practicing mindfulness, or pursuing hobbies can also help. Make sure to prioritize self-care by getting enough sleep, eating well, and staying hydrated. Finding what works best for you is important to stay balanced and maintain well-being.
