Thing that have helped me to release stress and tension is deep breathing exercises, meditation, going outside and focusing on something else rather than the stressor.

to take a moment and walk away for a second to take a breather when I feel like the children are not listening or follow directions, also to understand they are children and they’re still learning., so we must be patient.

If I am on a break, I love to listen to music or watch a TV show so I can totally focus on something else other than work. If I am unable to take a break and I feel myself getting super overwhelmed I usually ask another teacher to step in for me and I go somewhere else to take deep breaths to calm down. If I am alone with the child and there is no one else to step in, I usually do the 10 feet method and take deep breaths while taking physical space from the child until I am calm enough to try to diffuse the behavior again.

Working with children can be emotional, so I manage stress by taking deep breaths, talking with colleagues, or doing quick mindfulness exercises. It helps me stay calm and focused for the kids.

Practicing deep breathing or sometimes everyone sitting in a circle and doing mindfulness/deep breathing together helps calm everyone including myself down..

I will just take a moment, maybe step to the sink to splash some water on my face, then drink some water. Taking a step outside to get some fresh air helps as well, if you are able to still be in ratio with the kids.

Meditation and mindfulness exercises regularly when not at school, talking to someone about my day, getting enough sleep at night, and watching a show and zoning out.

I just recently learned about the Quick Calm technique from this module.First, take a deep breath, then hold your breathe for about 3-4 seconds, then think or tell yourself “I am Warm”, Exhale, and then tell yourself “I am calm”. I personally tried it and it actually really helps.

I just utilize my breaks and use it as a way to release stress. Sometimes I use my lunch break to take walks.

I find laughing with children, especially after they have had an emotional moment really helps us both relieve tension and make that emotional connection. For myself, I usually just make sure I keep the wheels of my life running smoothly, meaning I get enough sleep, I take the time to feel put together and ready for the day, and I have a tasty yet nutritious lunch packed, etc.
