MemberOctober 20, 2025 at 12:35 amWhen I have had a particularly stressful day at work, I do two things before I leave. I take a moment after I turn out the lights to remind myself that today was today and tomorrow is a new day, and that there is no reason to take any of the baggage home with me. Any problems that need to be handled cannot be done from home, so I can leave them at the school. At home, I enjoy a cup of decaf tea and pet my dog while looking out my window at the trees and birds. This brings me a sense of peace for a few moments before I have to get back to all of my other responsibilities.

MemberOctober 22, 2025 at 8:12 pmYes, working with children is incredibly rewarding but can also be emotionally demanding, so finding healthy ways to release stress is essential. I’ve found that taking quiet moments throughout the day—even just a few deep breaths between transitions—helps me reset and stay calm. Outside of work, I enjoy walking, spending time in nature, journaling, and listening to music to unwind and reflect.I’ve also learned the importance of connecting with other early learning professionals who understand the unique challenges of this field. Sharing experiences and support helps me feel grounded and less alone. Practicing self-care, mindfulness, and gratitude allows me to come back each day with patience, energy, and compassion for the children in my care.

When possible, taking a short break can be very helpful. Speaking about a stressor to another teacher or a supervisor can be a relief rather than keeping it bottled up.
-
Great insights, Daniel! Taking breaks and sharing concerns are effective ways to manage stress in our rewarding work.

MemberOctober 28, 2025 at 5:16 amTo release my stress, I find it calming by taking walks around a trail or park to ease my mind and relieve me from my every day routine. Dancing is also another calming method to slowly release stress by loosely moving my body in ways that can help me feel relaxed. Also, talking or coping with someone about things that have been on my mind or meeting up with a group of friends for a little outing to take me away from the stress that has been weighing me down.
