In my opinion, a good early learning environment would have a variety of each toy to develop a childs interest. It may also consists of a welcoming atmosphere and positive attitudes and passion! Showing you have passion and putting in the effort drives the children to want to learn more and absorb the positive energy you give them. Also keeping the environment organized with easy reach access to the children. Like a sink there size so after meals they could have the opportunity to wash their hands and work on personal hygiene!

    • The good components of early learning childcare start with environmental factors, where the children feel welcome and invited; where people are kind, and where teachers are helpful. Another component is all the provided activities and learning tools for all kinds of different interests, which also help them use all different senses; activities are easily accessible and they can move from one to the next making choices they are confident in.

I really like the idea of “feeling corners” where if a child is upset, overwhelmed, angry or just needs some space, they can go to a quiet corner where they have tools and comfort items to soothe themselves and calm down.

I think that an early learning environment should be a place where able to move around freely and make decisions about things they want to learn and explore. It should include a variety of interest centers and should foster curiosity. It should be warm and welcoming and allow children to feel both engaged and comfortable.

It is vital to have a variety of activity areas, including reading, quiet time, blocks, etc. Every child needs to be able to do what they are most comfortable with, and giving them a multitude of options to pick from will create a much more welcoming environment for all children.

I think making the environment feel safe and welcoming will make the children want to break out of their shell and express themselves. Making sure there is a clear path to each center or activity area and a clear path to the door in case of an emergency.

I like the thought of breaking up the centers for play

Ease of access to materials is important as well as the feeling of safety.

Some components that are important are having a creative area, sensory exploration, and having an outdoor area is crucial for younger children. These are just a few examples of important components and these will help children be set up for success.

I love that Montessori’s make everything available to the children. Nothing is off limits. I think it is important to make it feel like it is their space.
