Keeping children healthy and safe
-
My biggest worry is that I won’t be able to keep tabs on all children at all times, and that I may miss an indicator of compromised health.
-
My biggest worry would be not having enough eyes to have on every student all the time.

MemberAugust 30, 2024 at 9:39 pmMy biggest worry is keeping children safe in the world we live in where there are school shootings. I also fear one day having to use my first aid and CPR training on a child in my care, I am glad to have these skills but hope to never have to use them.

What is your biggest worry about keeping children healthy and safe?
- My biggest concern is ensuring that all safety protocols are consistently followed, especially in unpredictable situations. This includes preventing accidents during outdoor play and ensuring that all health practices, such as handwashing and sanitization, are diligently adhered to by both staff and children.
What are you most interested in learning?
- I am most interested in learning more about the latest guidelines and best practices for preventing illness in child care settings, as well as effective strategies for managing children’s behavior in ways that promote both safety and a positive learning environment.
-
My biggest worry about keeping the children in my care safe is anything out of my control such as school shooting or anything of that nature or being distracted by other children and a child accidentally seriously harms themself.

That a crazy event will happen, and I will be completely responsible for a bunch of people’s young children.

MemberSeptember 4, 2024 at 3:58 amTaking care of other people’s children is a huge responsibility and I worry that something will happen to them “on my watch”. I am also concerned about gun violence – and as a result do not plan on having any signs at my home advertising that there is a day care on site.

I’m always worried about what could happen if I decide to look away for a second and a child ends up getting hurt. How can I explain that to their parents? And I think my biggest concern is people in general, you never know how some people will react in certain situations. For example, an adult getting into the facility and starts threatening us. Safety concerns about the things you see happening on the news every day. You don’t feel safe and you fear about that happening to you and the children you’re talking care of.

My biggest worry about keeping infants safe and healthy is during naptime. I worry that something will happen, however I have taken the Safe Sleep training so I think just having more confidence will help with the worry.
