MemberNovember 18, 2024 at 2:41 pmWhat is your biggest worry about keeping children healthy and safe?
Same as everyone else here, my biggest worry and concern would have to be gun violence and internet safety. We live in a world where guns are valued more than the lives of children and this is upsetting, both as an early learning professional and as a parent of two young children. In addition, the internet is not a safe place. While we do our best to protect children, predators on the internet, inappropriate content for children, bullies, etc. can still find their ways to children without proper safety precautions.

My greatest concern to the health and safety of children is how to ensure that their holistic well-being—physical, emotional, and psychological—is protected in the face of emerging issues such as online safety, peer pressures, and potential harm from environments out of my control. Balancing independence with safety is an ongoing challenge, as is early identification and intervention regarding signs of trauma, abuse, or neglect. My greatest interest lies in learning about the application of trauma-informed practices, establishing relationships through good communication, and creating safe and nurturing environments. I would also like to explore new approaches in arts and crafts or animal-assisted therapy that may help to promote children’s health, resilience, and development in meaningful ways.

MemberNovember 20, 2024 at 1:25 amI want to create a safe environment but my biggest worry is that there are things that happen at home with the children that are out of my control.. I am worried I can’t protect all children from abuse or neglect, accidents and injuries, or violence. I can keep them safe in my care, but I am worried for what they experience at home.

MemberNovember 24, 2024 at 9:12 pmMy biggest worry is that a terrible accident could happen on my watch. I would feel so terrible for the child, their family, and the heads of my work place. I always stay focused while at work to try and make sure that nothing will happen but accidents can sometimes happen in the blink of an eye. I am most interested in learning about what to do in specific situations.

MemberNovember 27, 2024 at 4:52 amI am most concerned about gun-violence in schools. I worry so much about how I would keep my kiddos safe if something like that were to ever happen. I don’t know what I would do.
