keeping them mentally safe is worrying, hearing them talk about violence or guns or that they want to hurt a teacher or family or friends is very off putting to hear. School shootings are also quite frightening to think about how to be able to protect them.
-
Ruby, your concerns are valid and reflect the importance of mental safety. Open communication and supportive environments are essential.

MemberJune 14, 2025 at 10:40 pmMy biggest worry is unintentionally overlooking a small but critical detail that could affect a child’s health or safety. For example, I might miss an allergy, fail to provide proper supervision during a transition, or not recognize the early signs of illness or abuse. Children rely on us to create a safe and nurturing environment. Even experienced caregivers can make mistakes if procedures are not followed consistently. The responsibility can feel overwhelming because the consequences are so serious.

MemberJune 17, 2025 at 8:06 pmI have allergies myself, so the potential for a child to have one they don’t know or choke on something concerns me. Day to day in classroom, I’m more worried about them not bumping their heads hard on something when they trip.

My biggest worry about keeping children healthy and safe is that I will tell a child not to do something so they can be safe and not get hurt but then they do it either way and they get hurt and the parents get mad at me because I was supposed to make sure their child doesn’t get injured. I am most interested in learning how little kids think so I can help them grow.
