My biggest worry about keeping children healthy and safe would be bullying, mental and emotional health, and making sure they are having all the nutrients they need and eating enough to grow strong and be healthy.

My biggest worry on a normal day is when children get wild enough to potentially get themselves or each other hurt. Once in a while during outside time, I’m afraid that a child will wonder off too far if I don’t call them back. But worst case scenario, a fire, an earthquake, or a school shooter could threaten the kids’ lives. What I’m most interested in learning is how to protect the kids and ourselves if such extreme emergencies happen.

MemberApril 16, 2023 at 1:51 amI have a few big worries, keeping them safe from other children biting, hitting, pushing them and hurting their heads. I also fear the outside world, internet, the shooting going on at schools and random places. Another huge fear I have is abuse that may be going on at home, and if I would not be aware of it. Just a few among many!!!!

MemberApril 16, 2023 at 2:21 amMy biggest concern in general is definitely also internet safety once they are older, and in the child care setting, my biggest worry would be a child running away during an outing or outdoor activity where we are not in an enclosed area, and entering a possibly unsafe situation.

MemberMay 10, 2023 at 1:25 amFrom a daycare standpoint, one fear would be a child that is violent to those around them, other students or adults. I hope that I would be able to diffuse the situation and protect the others around. I also hope that I will be able to discuss the situation with the parents of the child with success

What is your biggest worry about keeping children healthy and safe?
My biggest concern in keeping children safe is over stepping my bounds but I know that as a caregiver or Teacher it is my responsibility to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

My biggest worry about keeping children safe relates to natural disasters. Near where I live and work, there is a possibility of a lahar drill. This means that if Mount Rainier was to erupt, it would landslide into the town of where the school is. We are trained to have the students and ourselves run up the nearest hill in order to get out of the valley. However, I am nervous that if this happens, I will struggle knowing what to do and am terrified I won’t be able to get all of them to safety.
