    1. A multicultural education curriculum should be in place in every school. Agree POV: Unless, we are talking about dual language classroom situation (it is important but it is not a priority for all parents) I do believe that multicultural education is important even if the schools diversity doesn’t call for it. We live in America there is diversity all around us and to ignore it just because it isn’t relevant at our school seems unjustifiable.
    2. Families should not be expected to be involved in classroom activities. Disagree POV: My mom was always involved in school activities so were my grandparents and the impact it had on my childhood was immense
    3. All learning programs should accommodate all children with special needs. Agree POV: my niece is autistic if she went to an early child care program that accommodated ALL needs her needs could never truly be addressed without a one on one situation which can discourage intermingling with her own age group.
    4. Some extended family members may confuse children, so they should not have a voice in raising or educating the child. Agree POV: my grandparents were heavily involved in my life but never had a say in my education or discipline.
    5. My curriculum should be based on each individual child’s current interests. Agree POV: i went to private school and my mom was a teacher if someone needed extra help there was always a way through added curriculum to get it.
    6. Diversity definitely includes race and culture, but doesn’t include age, ability or family make-up. Strongly disagree POV: There is diversity within your own family for this exact reason, Diversity is about more than just your skin tone.
    7. Media in general delivers fair and accurate accounts of events around the country. Strongly Disagree POV: my mom was a communications major before she became a teacher and she talked all the time about you changed the ways things were written in order to meet the expected bias.
    8. The United States should discontinue relations with countries that engage in human rights violations. Disagree POV: Family with military background

    I think one way that diversity could be celebrated is by encouraging families to share with the students there traditions. Having guest speakers for holidays not commonly celebrated in America would be beneficial in teaching diversity to children.

    Strongly agree:

    <div>

    1- A multicultural education curriculum should be in place in every school.

    3- All learning programs should accommodate <em style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>all children with special needs.

    <div>

    Agree:

    Neutral:

    8- The United States should discontinue relations with countries that engage in human rights violations. (I don’t have an opinion on this.)

    Disagree:

    5- My curriculum should be based on each individual child’s current interests.

    2- Families should <em style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>not be expected to be involved in classroom activities.

    Strongly disagree:

    4- Some extended family members may confuse children, so they should <em style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>not have a voice in raising or educating the child.

    6- Diversity definitely includes race and culture, but <em style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>doesn’t include age, ability or family make-up.

    Point of view: Family, peers, education.

    Imaginary child-immigrated

    I would try to make them feel at home. Feel welcome, try to accomodate to their needs. If I don’t have enough information try to learn more about them and their background.

    In my experience as a teacher, I’ve observed that people often respond to differing points of view in various ways. While some engage in open and respectful dialogue, others may become defensive or avoid discussions altogether. Changing one’s views is a complex process influenced by factors such as exposure to new information, empathy, and a willingness to consider alternative perspectives. Education, diverse experiences, and effective communication play pivotal roles in fostering a climate where individuals feel empowered to reevaluate and, if necessary, adjust their perspectives.
