Imagine a child who recently moved to the U.S. with their family. Picture a diverse family with different backgrounds, ages, and languages to represent them. As a childcare professional, you can celebrate this by inviting the family to share their culture and language. Use phrases from their language in daily activities. Let the family share their migration story, highlighting their strengths. Create fun projects, like a “Family Tree,” where each child contributes information about their family. Share this activity on the forum and ask for feedback. Discuss how to welcome all families and make programs more enriching for everyone. This collaboration can bring in various ideas for a supportive and inclusive environment.

2. By having a meal that consists of his favorite foods, Reading books that tells stories about his heritage.
3. by pairing the child with one on one tasks with ither students.

As a professional, I’d celebrate their diversity by respecting their cultural traditions and including them in classroom activities. Hosting events like a “Family Heritage” day would be great.

-
A multicultural education curriculum should be in place in every school because it fosters understanding and respect for diverse cultures, enriching the educational experience.
-
All learning programs should accommodate all children with special needs to ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities for every child to thrive.
-
My curriculum should be based on each individual child’s current interests because personalized learning caters to each child’s unique strengths and passions.
Agree
-
Diversity definitely includes race and culture, but doesn’t include age, ability, or family make-up. While race and culture are essential aspects of diversity, acknowledging differences in age, ability, and family structure broadens our understanding.
-
The United States should discontinue relations with countries that engage in human rights violations. Supporting human rights aligns with ethical principles.
Disagree
-
Families should not be expected to be involved in classroom activities. Family involvement enhances a child’s educational journey, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
-
Some extended family members may confuse children, so they should not have a voice in raising or educating the child. Involving extended family can provide additional support and diverse perspectives.
-
Media in general delivers fair and accurate accounts of events around the country. Media often presents biased narratives, requiring critical thinking and diverse sources for a well-rounded understanding.
Strongly Disagree
- None
Point of View:
I’ve listed influences on my thinking, including family, religious beliefs, media, education, peers, and political affiliation.
As I reflect on different points of view, it’s clear that individuals react in diverse ways. I’ve come to understand that altering one’s perspectives is possible, often shaped by elements such as newfound information, personal experiences, or the evolving viewpoints in society. Engaging in open dialogue, practicing empathy, and being willing to learn from others play crucial roles in facilitating a change in perspective.

-
Do we ever change our views?
It is very difficult to change our point of view, since what we see or how we react to something is due to everything that surrounds us and everything that was part of us while we were formed, it is possible that if we can change our opinion on something, now that as we continue to grow and learn we can adapt and assimilate.
What kinds of things influence us to change our perspective?
The society that surrounds us, many times something that we considered negative or that is not part of what surrounds us ends up being part of us in some way due to the society that surrounds us, it can also be the fact of studying a topic in depth. which can make us change our mind about something.

POV:
Things that influence my point of view are my family, the media, and my peers. Sometimes when people have different points of view it can make them argue or fight, but sometimes there are people that will respect the other persons point of view. Our views can change due to new information from what we see in the media or read.

It is a mother an daughter who just got to the US from Ethiopia.
The main ways to help them feel more safe and this space is for them and to make them comfortable. Are to find common ground, have curricula that is culturally relevant, allowing space, being open, having communication, celebrating holidays, encouraging them to share food and artifacts and being welcoming and positive.
