<div>I love the idea of having the children be in charge or certain activities to help keep them active, engaged, and feeling like part of a team or community. An example would be to have the children( for the classes that are ages 2+) grab a chair to bring over for circle time. At the end of circle time, it is the childs duty to return the chair back to its original place(or close to it). It helps keeps the day moving as well as the children. Another fun idea would be to have foam climbing set in the classroom for the infants who are now mobile and on the go. While outside time is very beneficial for children, it can be harder to spend time outside with the infants due to the many different sleep and eating schedules in the classroom. Having additional options inside the classroom to help keep them active is very beneficial for the provider and the child. They foam climbing sets are perfect to have indoors for the infants because they give the infant the ability to explore climbing, sliding, crawling through tunnels, and pulling themselves up to standing from this foam activity set .

Creating this sort of environment has to be intentional. Incorporating play-based learning, physical activities like movement breaks (dancing, jumping jacks, etc.), hands on activities like science experiments and art projects, all buttoned up nicely with some positive reinforcement through encouragement and feedback.

    1. Games: Combine movement and learning.

    2. Seating: Balance balls, standing desks.

    3. Outdoor: Activities and lessons outside.

    4. Breaks: Short stretches or dances.

    5. Stations: Different activity spots.

    6. Themes: Activities tied to lessons.

    7. Parents: Communicate for support.

Playing lots of games with children that are both kinesthetic and informative/reviewing concepts. Singing songs with motions, playing group games outside.

I spent the last 10 years working in Special education for the public schools. In all the classrooms I was in we had BRAIN BREAKS throughout the day or took a walk when needed.

Provide a warm greeting to each child in the morning when they arrive in the classroom, conduct and plan activities according to the age and needs of the children in the classroom.

Maintain a safe and healthy environment inside and outside the classroom, follow WAC regulations and requirements, and conduct motivating and enthusiastic interactions and routines.

There are lots of fun small climbing gyms that could be used in a classroom during playtime. These promote activity, and they are also a great chance for kids to learn about taking turns.

Make sure to include physical activity both indoors and outdoors. Get children involved in what you are doing. Sit down and play with your students, be engaged with them.

Have activities that make the children move around the room to accomplish the task. For example, looking for objects, looking for signs, letters of words posted. Teach them stretches or a simple song with body movements like Wheels on the Bus, play Simon Says.

Playing games, singing, and dancing at the same time using exercises, picking up toys, walking, taking the stairs, play outside. Using one of each activity in daily routine.

Have a yoga session that children can join in when they finish snack. Sing songs that have dances that accompany them. Get active during outside time, play hide and seek and tag variations with the children. Play pretend with the children and encourage them to move in different ways like if they are dinosaurs or bears.
