having songs where actions are invovled, esp including songs that make them listen and think about the actions. Also have songs that are routine to build confidence in knowing what to do. Having active and inactive stations could be fun. Also outside play time

A few ways to have a fun physical activity in the classroom is to sing/dance to animal action at circle time, create an obstacle course, go on a “hunt” for a list of things, play simon says, etc. I think it helps to think of things you liked to do as a kid or would have liked to do. Often on the playground if they have bikes or cars to ride on we would imagine different scenarios to keep them moving such as its time to go to work and work is over there in the corner, oh now its time to go to the grocery store and that is over on that side of the playground, now time to go to the park and walk the dog, etc.

Make sure that you have different activities for the different age groups, always greet children with a smile. Use music to encourage them to participate in physical activities, it makes it that much more fun.

I am from Hawaii, so will sing them the good morning aloha song as a daily routine.

Divide the class room up with multiple stations for them to chose from (music, art, science, house, cars)

have songs and dance time, do interactive games during circle time, practice yoga and read animal books and have children try to “hop like frog” or “run like cheetah”

A great way to get everyone involved in physical activities includes setting up obstacle courses and playing freeze dance.

To create a developmentally appropriate, fun, and physically active classroom, incorporate movement into learning by using open space for activities like obstacle courses and group games. Integrate physical play with educational concepts, provide equipment that encourages active play, and set up distinct activity zones. Encourage participation by modeling enthusiasm, tailor activities to children’s ages and abilities, and celebrate their achievements to motivate and create a positive association with being active.

Give children the opportunity to be physically active enough such as give appropriate outside time and be active with them, encourage activity (don’t just let them sit down on the bench unless they are tired from playing) and if they do not have outside time because of weather make sure they do an interactive or yoga video made for children so they are still getting that physical activity in.

Sing songs that encourage movement, go on walks and ask the children to look for things, play a game outside or introduce sports with a ball and demonstrate how to use them.

Introduce physical activities into other areas like music time when the children can dance and move their bodies, or science by getting them to move like an animal. Introducing yoga before nap time can help with physical movement as well as calming everyone down.

Providing space to move freely, using time such as clean up time to set challenges that cause the child to move more without even being aware of it.

Include some walking time as a group.
