Families are primary educators of their children. Children are learning from their parents simply by observing them in daily life.Childcare providers can support families by listening to parents, seeking to understand their goals, and respecting cultural and family differences.Teachers and families need to work closely in partnership to ensure high quality care.

. How can childcare providers support families in this role?

Why is supporting families so important?

They spend a lot of time with their families, especially while developing before they come to the center, for us, its the first year of their life that they only spend their time with family.

Talk to them discuss the child and how well they are doing at home and the childcare center.

It helps build a better relationship with everyone and better understand each other which benefits the child.

Families raise their children from Day and serve as the foundation and role models by which children learn to develop healthy or harmful relationships, that they are a part of the family and greater community, illicit praise and positive/negative feedback, pick up on spoken language and find joy or unease in exploring the world around them. Families are children’s first teacher(s and children pick up on cues from their family such as vocalizing sounds or words, gestures and facial expressions. How children are viewed, touched, disciplined, taught, spoken to and more are all deeply influenced by families’ systems of beliefs and behaviors. How can childcare providers support families in this role?Childcare providers want to gain an understanding of family’s beliefs, values and culture and childcare providers try to learn what they can do within the guidelines or their center.3 Why is supporting families so important? If families feel good/supported about their parenting styles they then will be more likely to raise their children in positive meaningful ways.

The families are the primary educators because they are the ones who set the foundation in their children’s life, values, morals, cultural, etc. we as caregivers need to get to know the families in order to learn each child’s family background to be able to assist the family with educating their children.3 Supporting the families is important to provide a sense of security and safety for the children and for the families knowing that everyone will be able to communicate if their ever is an issue or something that might need some extra support comes up. This way the families will stay receptive to assistance and parenting advice as well as open to resources.

      – Families are the primary educators of their children because they are with them constantly! Many children have not been in our care since birth, and children will grow older than we care for and remain with their families. They create the world their child lives in, control the words they hear and things they see and experiences they’ve shared!- Childcare providers can support families in this role by helping them to understand it themselves, but also by providing whatever observation or assistance is necessary when requested (within reason. Sharing your observations daily and of any developments you might have noticed can help indicate to them what the next developmental step might be so that they can begin to prime it and foster it in the child’s learning.3- Supporting families is a great way to build a healthy trust and strong communication! All of these are in the best interest of the child, and can easily smooth over bumps or even bring efficiency to development!

the parents are primary educators because they know them more and as parents they should start education process at home.

we support them by keeping the education going at the center.

3 well when we have a good communication with parents we talk about and keep up with the child’s learning development.

Families not only are primary educators of skills but also for fostering a love of learning and respect for school. Families spend countless more hours with their children and are the driving force behind their initial learning and relationships.

Families are primary educators of their children because their core beliefs and understandings of the world are constructed in the home setting from birth up until the point that they enter an alternative childcare setting. Most of child’s learning is through observation of their family. They learn the foundations of language, social norms, emotional expression, eating habits and exercise habits.

How can childcare providers support families in this role?

Childcare providers should provide feedback to parents about their child’s milestones and any developmental concerns. It is important to keep communication about the child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual progress as they grow and explore in your classroom as well as at home. An educator should provide the families with documented progress such as art work or pictures of a child’s activities. An educator should also discuss with parents what the child is interested in at home and how they interact in their home community so that both parties are aware of special interests and any extra support needed.

Why is supporting families so important?

Supporting families is important because it is family that with raise the child beyond the classroom. After the student moves up through the grades the family is the one that is going to be there supporting the child. It is important to support the family at each stage so that everyone involved in raising the child, including the child, is able to have a say in the process and can voice concern if there is any. It is also important to foster a positive learning environment so that the child’s attitude about learning is not sullied by negative experiences or lacking support systems.

As an early childhood teacher, I realize that families are extremely important for several reasons:

    1) They are the first influence on a child’s understanding of the world around them.

    2) They are going to be the people with the best understanding of why the child maybe starting to act differently.

    3) They can also be a good resource for ideas to try in the classroom (i.e. tricks for getting an infant to take naps).

    4) They can also teach about their culture to the rest of the class.
