I think that screen time for kids should not be used at daycare. That can be saved for the home hours if the parents desire. The allotted reccommnended time of screen time should also try to have some form of education attached to it.

I think screen time is appropriate in between activities briefly when trying to settle the group before another activity or if there are a few minutes to kill before lunch. Maybe a story or an interactive song only lasting a few minutes is fine. It re-focuses them and settles them while waiting if you have to quickly set something up.

Screen time should be very limited for children I think. Songs and rhymes/ education videos can help development but I do feel like it should be very limited.

I think screen time should be extremely limited in child care settings. I think watching children’s shows or overstimulating youtube videos is unacceptable, screens should be used to research interests, aid in activities that the adult ALSO participates in, and things such as this.

I think that screen time in childcare should be limited or not there at all because it delays development

Limit screen time, encourage more interaction with teachers, engage in quiet play with toys or books, listen to music, and socialize with other children.

I think it is good to have 10-15 minutes of listening to songs and cartoons every day in the nursery to keep the children entertained for a while.

I think minimal screen time for older kids is okay as long as you are giving the kids are enriched and are going outside for the recommended hour a day

In my opinion videos should be limited in childcare. If videos are used at all I believe that it should be short for about 5-10 mins max. Too much screen time is negative to children, it is shown through research and through my own personal experience that screen time is addicting to children. Therefore I believe that limiting to preferably not at school at all is suggested.

my thoughts on screen time is i personally don’t think any infant , toddler should be engaged as far as any other groups as far as prek and kinder this would be a helpful way for kids to engage and learn new things as well as writing down what they see and what they can learn from the videos. as an younger child it is best to engage and teach every and any thing so that baby or toddler can be ready for the next milestone.

Screen time for children in childcare can be a bit of a double-edged sword. While technology can be a valuable educational tool when used appropriately, it’s essential to strike a balance and ensure that screen time doesn’t overshadow other forms of learning and social interaction. It is better to limit screen time to no more than 1 hour per day for children aged 2 to 5 years old.

Kate’s insight on screen time is well-balanced, emphasizing the importance of limiting screen time and promoting other forms of learning and social interaction.

Honestly I think screen time for young children should be very very limited. Just like the reading was saying. I believe that children should not use screens for very long and learn to play with each other and interact with a real person. So much of our world has screens and technology that has taken away basic human interaction. Children need to know how to talk to a real person.

I say yes to screen time but under restrictions! I think children should be shown all sorts of the world and how progressive our animation has become! Like watching baby Einstein for only about 15 min, once a week to show the bright colors and animals singing and dancing! You can also use music like miss rachel but be aware of how much they watch! Personally I think it should not exceed over 15 minuets! For the rest of the day can be used for communication, building relationships, those types of interactions so the child can get the best of both worlds.

I perceive that screen time is best left for the parents to utilized in different ways between at home, and at school, especially when it comes to younger groups of children. Child care settings should be reserved for social/emotional development through interaction and play with their care givers and with the other children. as well as once in a while for a class reward to watch something like the magic school bus educational videos they can learn from. The parents should be the ones to decide at home how many hours their children use. other screens like tablets may teach shapes and colors on a YouTube video or educational games, but who is to say that they wont excessively use and passively watch? They would do best through physical or 2D representations on paper that they create, as hand projects are the best stimulation of the brain.
