Yes! The policies are there to help you be prepared on dealing with the lives of these children! Better yet it’s written out for you so you can go back and refresh your memory whenever! Especially writing reports, notes on CPR and child illnesses, and food preparation! All that needs to be known

In every situation, the written guidelines and policies of wherever you work should always be followed. That is why they are there

Yes, I think written policies would be useful in situations like illness, accident, emergencies and behavior reports. I also think it would be useful to people who are new or are not familiar with them.

When their are incidents such as a child biting another child or teacher. There is a policy and an incident report to be written. Also in the case of an emergency like a child fainted. What is the policy to deal with that? Or if the child has an illness. Policies are very important for this sort of thing.

Written policies are important so that caregivers can understand what is expected of them in a variety of different situations. Standardized responses can help caregivers act confidently and can give family peace of mind and security.

Are there any situations where you think the childcare programs written guidance policies would be useful?

Yes! I think that the written guidance policies help protect the staff, students, and parents. The policies are useful to communicate expectations, how to handle emergencies, when questions arise from parents, illness, etc. They are the foundation of the school that makes everything fair and safe.

The written guidance policies would be helpful on deciding how to handle certain situations where children consistently do not listen to verbal instruction or redirection, or repeatedly/persistently engage in behaviors they know are not allowed to the point of becoming disruptive to other students. It would also be helpful when someone observes other teachers/staff using guidance and behavior correction methods that one believes are ineffective or harmful to the children but do not rise to the level of reportable abuse.

They are super useful for ensuring consistency in care. They provide clear expectations and a reference for everyone including staff, parents and children.
