  • Behavior Management: Written guidance policies help ensure consistency in how behavior issues are addressed across different staff members. This consistency is crucial for creating a predictable environment for children.

  • Safety and Emergency Procedures: Clear policies on safety and emergency procedures, such as evacuation plans, first aid protocols, and lockdown procedures, ensure that all staff know how to respond effectively in emergencies.

  • Health and Hygiene Practices: Policies on health and hygiene, including handwashing, diaper changing, and illness protocols, help maintain a healthy environment for children and staff, reducing the spread of illness.

  • Parental Communication and Involvement: Guidance on how to communicate with parents, including handling concerns and providing regular updates, ensures that staff engage with parents effectively and consistently.

  • Inclusion and Special Needs: Policies that outline how to support children with special needs or disabilities ensure that these children receive appropriate care and accommodations, fostering an inclusive environment.

-when a new parent is interested and wants to know your guidance policies to review

-when a new teacher is hired and needs to be informed

-when a student is having a difficult time and you need to refresh on your schools guidance policies and how to move forward

policies are extremely important and helpful. I like knowing who things should properly flow and it helps me know what expectations are. I find it frustrating if I am expected to do something and dont know how to do it. especially when it comes to training.

Written guidance policies would be beneficial because when an incident occurs, we can refer to it to create appropriate responses.

It is always helpful to have written policies and guidelines to refer to preemptively when planning and preparing to teach, and to return to when challenges arise.
