MemberFebruary 26, 2025 at 10:54 amIf I were giving a parent a tour of my program, I would explain the important safety procedures we follow to keep all children safe. First, I would show them our secure entry system, which makes sure that only approved people can enter the building. I would also talk about our sign-in and sign-out policy, so only trusted caregivers can pick up children. Inside, I would point out our clean and safe environment, including child-proofed areas, locked cabinets for dangerous items, and age-appropriate toys. I would explain how we practice emergency drills, like fire and earthquake drills, so everyone knows what to do in an emergency. I would also highlight our handwashing and cleaning routines to help stop the spread of germs. Finally, I would reassure them that all staff members are trained in CPR and first aid, have background checks, and receive regular safety training to make sure every child is well cared for.

MemberFebruary 28, 2025 at 10:08 pmEstablish a positive interaction with the parent. Welcome them in with a smile on your face and walk them through your childcare facility. Show them where you keep first aid, tell them your employees have had their TB shot and give proof of licensing of you and your employees’ first aid/blood borne pathogen training, etc. Show them the list of when the last drills were practice, like fire, earthquake, etc. Reassure them you have the things needed to keep their child safe.

MemberMarch 4, 2025 at 3:37 amI would highlight the use of name to face when transitioning the kids from inside to out side and vice versa. This procedure ensures that every child is accounted for. I would also point out the use of sanitary procedures that we use to guarantee that the classroom is kept clean for the children.

If I were giving a prospective parent a tour of the program, I’d highlight the key safety features like childproofing around exits, stairs, and shelving to prevent falls or entrapment. I’d also point out our secure fencing, safe water play setups, and proper ventilation to ensure the environment is comfortable and hazard-free. Additionally, I’d emphasize our cleaning protocols, including the use of approved bleach solutions and a well-maintained cleaning schedule to ensure surfaces and toys are sanitized regularly. These features show our commitment to keeping their child safe and healthy while in our care.

MemberMarch 10, 2025 at 3:49 pmI would highlight security measures we have in place for child supervision (i.e. keeping the space open so the children can be seen at all times), show where the outside exits are for both play and in case of emergency, the structure of our activities, the system we have in place to account for children coming in and out of the building, and the app we use to update parents on any injuries/illnesses in relation to their child (as well as the fact we use it to note what they ate, toilet training successes, and photos of the child’s day).
