By showing that you are interested in the activity as a provider you show the children what being engaged looks like and by doing so you can also give learning advice.

If children are learning about, for example, horticulture, we could engage them by having them plant seeds of different herbs and once they’ve grown, we could have them do taste tests. We could do a fun little guessing game about which herb is which. we could even bring in sample dishes that revolve around each herb too. For example, bring in a little pesto for basil.

Some creative ways to get children engaged in active, meaningful learning are…

-to ask meaningful questions that guide the children’s understanding/

-create hands-on activities that allow children to explore and discover

    -promote child-initiated activities

    -allocate time for outdoor play

Asking questions about what a child is doing and why- such as what they’re painting/building/making, why they’re choosing the materials or toys they use, and asking them how their process might differ in other situations (for example- how would this drawing be different using paint instead of pencils? What might happen if you tried to build this tower out of cars instead of blocks?)

Create positive development such as social-emotional activity, favorite materials to use (toys), and create a story dialogue with toys.

By learning what the children’s interests are and by acting excited about what they are learning and observing, you can foster an environment where children get to learn effectively while having fun

One way to get children engaged is to play movement guided songs. Examples include the floor is lava, bear hunt, or freeze dance.

To engage kids during their play time by getting to their level and interact with them about what they are playing and tell them if you have any ideas on that. If the classroom like to play with magnetic tiles then I will learn to make so cool stuff with that and show them how to build it. It kind of creates the bond between the teacher and the child.
