Hello Gavyn, this is one great way to get children to engage in active learning. I think creating fun songs to sing all together while doing movement is beneficial for children because they are doing exercise for the health and also having a great time.

for example we can bring them nature walk and ask them about what are the leaves color, what are the sky color, what are the flower color. that way they can learn color or we can tell them different different flower name.

    1. Hands-On Exploration: Set up sensory bins, science experiments, or building challenges that let children touch, manipulate, and discover materials.2. Project-Based Learning: Encourage children to work on group projects, like creating a class garden, building a model city, or putting on a puppet show. This fosters teamwork and problem-solving.3. Learning Through Play: Incorporate games, dramatic play, and role-playing scenarios that connect to real-life experiences, such as running a pretend grocery store or acting out community helper roles.4. Outdoor Learning: Take learning outside with nature walks, scavenger hunts, or outdoor art. Use natural materials for counting, sorting, or creative projects.5. Child-Led Activities: Let children choose topics or activities based on their interests. Follow their curiosity and provide resources to help them explore further.6. Music and Movement: Use songs, dance, and movement games to teach concepts like counting, patterns, or storytelling.7. Storytelling and Creative Arts: Invite children to create their own stories, draw, paint, or use clay to express ideas and emotions.8. Real-World Connections: Bring in guest speakers, take field trips (even virtual ones), or set up classroom jobs to connect learning to the world around them.9. Problem-Solving Challenges: Offer puzzles, brainteasers, or STEM challenges that encourage critical thinking and experimentation.10. Reflection and Sharing: Give children opportunities to share what they’ve learned with peers, through show-and-tell, group discussions, or creating displays of their work. These approaches make learning active, engaging, and meaningful, helping children build skills and confidence while having fun!

Any activity which has hands on experience and fun makes children actively engaged. Creative ways to engage children in active, meaningful learning includes arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, and science experiments; storytelling and role play to spark imagination; nature walks and observation tasks to connect with the environment; music, dance, and movement games for physical engagement; and encouraging questions, group discussions, or building projects to develop critical thinking.

Engaging children in meaningful learning works best when they can explore, create, and move. Hands-on experiments, role-playing, and games turn lessons into experiences they can touch, act out, or compete in. Giving kids choices in projects, using outdoor or real-world settings, and incorporating arts or music makes learning relevant and memorable, while collaboration builds social skills and deeper understanding.

I feel the most important step in all of this is teacher implementation. Having a teacher who is excited to play and learn alongside the children makes all the difference in the world. Asking open ended questions to encourage their critical thinking skills and provide scaffolding to solve problems as they arise.

To creatively engage children in active, meaningful learning, consider incorporating elements that tap into their natural curiosity and desire to interact with the world around them. Remember to adapt strategies to the child’s age, interests, and learning style to create a significant and enjoyable learning experience. Try asking open-ended questions, for example. That can help a child engage in their material and surroundings.

Giving children the choice and encouraging them to lead parts of the activity makes a big difference. They might decide what materials or tools will be used for a project or help set up a play area. This keeps the learning purposeful and connects to their interest.

Some creative ways to get children engaged in learning is having it centered around things they know and learning more. Such as doing a show and tell, then the following weeks spend 30 minutes in the morning learning about what they brought it (if its a ball what muscles they use to kick it, a stuff animal learn about the animal or thing it is based on).

I think to let the child lead the way first. If a child really likes doing crafts, engage with them and ask questions regarding the current activity the child is engaged in. If you know a child is interested in an activity, be involved and show you are engaged with them.

Interactive projects like games, puzzles, art projects get the children to think, solve problems and be creative and always encourage them to ask questions and ask for help.

Some ideas to get children engaged in meaningful learning is by offering a range of stimulation. This can be colorful blocks (visual and motor skills), oudoor play for movement and music for auditory stimulation.
