-
Great insight, Eva! Observing and documenting helps track milestones and tailor support to each child’s needs. Well said!

Taking time to observe allows you to explore what infants or toddler are focusing on, what their intentions might be, and what strategies they are using to learn. MemberApril 20, 2024 at 7:12 pmObservation is the basis for decision making about how to create curriculum or alter the environment, and even informs how you interact effectively with each child.Using various modes/methods of observation help the teacher determine what a child can do independently, what they can do with help and what additional support they need to take them to the next developmental level. One should never use their observation for comparison or labeling the children.Using observation to understand development is essential to effective teaching.
-
Great insight, Raghanivedha! Observation guides curriculum, environment, and interactions, ensuring each child’s developmental needs are met respectfully.

Observing and documenting a child’s development can help learning providers by giving an insight of what to teach. You can observe where the children are on their knowledge so you can make lesson plans, activities on how to further educate ALL the children and work with those who need it the most if you see them struggling

MemberApril 24, 2024 at 9:59 pmObservations and documentation helps early learning childcare providers interact more efficiently with the children in care through developmentally and age appropriate ways to continue their journey of learning and development. Each child is vastly different on this continuum of development, so knowing through documenting interactions and observations helps their place along the continuum to create an environment and provide appropriate materials for their learning path.

MemberApril 25, 2024 at 4:30 pmIt helps, because you will always have multiple children in your care, and they all will develop differently. Observing and keeping clear records of milestones and the development of each child will help you keep everybody’s learning straight. including the correct curriculum development.

-
Hannah, well said! Documenting children’s development helps educators adapt and improve the education system effectively. Great insight!

MemberApril 25, 2024 at 8:43 pmEarly Learning providers must rely on observation as a tool to understand where children are on the developmental continuum. Observation can not only provide information on a child’s strengths and weaknesses, but can tell a provider about a child’s cultural background and home life, how they best absorb new information, their interests, and much more. Once a provider gets to know a child through careful observation, they can modify their curriculum to be more individualized and allow them to scaffold the child’s learning.

With documenting information it allow the providers to see were the child may need extra help in and in areas were they might exceed. As well as observing its provides knowledge into a child’s unique characteristics and learning styles.
