By observing each child’s development and documenting them, we can gather vital information that gives us a better understanding on how to approach a child as an educator.

observing a child is important because it bases where they are currently at, their progress throughout the year, and key milestone factors to consider as well as bases how and where to implement curriculum to better help them during their developmental journeys.

Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers because the more you know and understand a child and their behavior, the better you can serve their learning and help them grow.

This allows providers to gain a deeper understanding of the child’s strength and abilities. This also helps track a child’s milestone and progress over time. Documenting helps providers have a better responsive learning environment.

Recognizing early signs and difficulties in children, how they integrate with other children, what their abilities and skills are and which ones they do not yet have, how they express their emotions.

How does observing and documenting a child’s development help early learning providers?

Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers by allowing them to individualize their curriculum to help meet children at the developmental stage they are at and help children learn new skills that allow them to reach their next milestones.

Observation and documentation helps early learning providers plan curriculum according to where each child in their class is at developmentally. It allows providers to modify lessons for children who are a little slower or more advanced developmentally.

we can use observations to plan for learning experiences and interactions. Taking time to observe allows you to explore what infants or toddler are focusing on, what their intentions might be, and what strategies they are using to learn.Teachers use documentation to continuously plan based on evidence in documentation as work progresses through an emergent curriculum. Teachers use the documentation to dialogue between ideas, thoughts, and new possibilities with children during their work.we will learn about their individual needs and their cultural practices. When we watch children closely, their interests and abilities are revealed. With each observation, you will gain useful insight that will help you become an intentional teacher
