I’m not surprised with the rules they have and I’m glad they enforce them. I wasn’t aware about the 4 hour rule with pre school but good to know that it is very enforced to having a license in child care up to 12 years old.

no I think they make perfect sense in child care. I didn’t know that a family home could be occupied for child care but they just have some more iregulations for that. I also didn’t know that the person getting licensed can’t be involved directly with a child that they are also involved with or employed by

I am not surprised with the WAC requirements. I discovered more in WAC 300 110 on square footage between children and infants as well as the spacing between each child for nap time. The WAC will influence day to day practice in following each and every code, these are to make sure all kids are safe and healthy.

While reading the WACs, I became aware that I didn’t realize that licensing was required for children all the way up to 12 years of age. For WAC 110-300, I was also surprised to learn about the four-hour rule for licensing preschoolers, which has a maximum for the day. If it is over four hours for preschool students, the program must have a specific license for that.

What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that the WACs are very complex and thorough to be able to clearly any questions or eliminate room for error. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I wasn’t surprised by any of the WACs in specific but I was surprised by the fact that there are so many and they go into depth about topics that I would have never thought. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? The WACs outline the basic policies and procedures that are required in Child Care centers which affects the way that we are working in the class and the things we have in place in the center.

I never realized how many requirements and restrictions there are to work in the early learning community. I was slightly durprixed on how often we need to update and work on all the requirements each year. I can see how the WACs will influence my day to day practice in caring for children because I will be frequently refreshing my memory of what I need to learn to be an early learning educator

1.I learned that WACs have clear rules to keep children safe and healthy in child care.2. I was surprised by how detailed some rules are, like emergency plans and health records.3.Yes, because they help me know what to do every day to take good care of children and follow the rules.

I am not surprised by all the WAC rules there is always something that we need to learn and always have that back up information so we all as teachers comply with them and or help other providers who don’t know them and help guide!

I was surprised by how specific some of the WAC rules are but I didn’t find the content particularly surprising. The guidelines influence my day to day by providing clear expectations for what is required for my role and how I interact with the children.

WACs are put into place for a reason and it is important to understand that. The state doesn’t make these rules just to make them. They are created to ensure the safety of the caregiver and the children involved as well. It doesn’t surprise me that WACs are put into place, safety should be the number one priority. I do see how WACs can affect our day-to-day practice because they are constant reminders how what we should be doing and what is expected of us as caregivers
