MemberJune 28, 2024 at 9:36 pmI would first discuss with the parent if/what circumstances are causing the lateness and try to come up with solutions together. I would then discuss how this impacts the child and how it can confuse the child. I would then discuss the rules in the handbook.

I would remind Mrs. Hopkins of our late policy and that she will have to start paying for the time over our programs closing time. I would respectfully ask her to be respectful of our time as well.
-
This can affect the child’s mood and develop trust and confusion. The child can sense the routine and changes in emotions if the parents do not pick up until later. Children have feelings and thoughts. Children can sense that there is a reason why the parents kept picking up so late frequently.
-
Because Ms. Hopkins has arrived once or three times, I will make sure to kindly remind her of our schools closing time and ask if there is something that has been making her 20 minutes late. I would also make sure to inform her of the importance on getting here by closing time to insure the childcare facility is able to run as safely and effectively as possible for her child. Coming to an agreement that the parent understands they must be there on time is the ultimate goal however if the parent is unable get there on time still, this may result in the unfortunate circumstance of withdrawal.

MemberJuly 2, 2024 at 4:17 pmIf Mrs. Hopkins has been constantly late for the past 2 weeks, I would notice then immediately arrange a meeting with Mrs. Hopkins. In the meeting, I would explain to Mrs. Hopkins how her being late has an impact on staff and the program’s schedule. Next, I would ask Mrs. Hopkins about any issues she is having with her work/personal schedule and offer potential solutions. Potential solutions may be considering different forms of transportation or possibly having Mrs. Hopkins adjust her schedule. Additionally, parents should be reminded of program policies.

MemberJuly 2, 2024 at 6:15 pm- This is the third time in the last two weeks that Mrs. Hopkins has picked up her child late. Today she did not arrive until 20 minutes after closing time. Answer: speak to the parent if everything is okay and what is the reason for them being late and if its something to do with work or something out of their control, then try to see if you can help provide resources to the parent to make arrangements for the child to be picked up on time.

MemberJuly 2, 2024 at 11:08 pmI would remind parent about her pick up time that was stated on the agreement. I would also start charging late pick up fees. If it is past closing a fee would also be included if parent continues to pick up child late. But my first thing would have to be communicate and remind parents of pick up time, and let them know that if it continues, there would be fees and could then lead to termination of parent does not comply with the agreement time.

MemberJuly 3, 2024 at 12:34 amHi, my name is Kainaat. In response to a situation like this, I would spark up a discussion with the parent and ask them if they are comfortable sharing the reason for their consistently late arrival for their child’s pick-up. After listening to their situation, I will gently explain the repercussions of delaying their meeting time with the child, as it may not be a large amount of time for the parent. Still, it can drastically disappoint the child looking forward to going home with their family. Then, I will kindly request they take measures to pick up their child on time, and highlight the benefits of doing so, such as a stronger relationship with their child, which contributes to their growth.

MemberJuly 3, 2024 at 9:22 pmI would first ask her about if any significant things had caused her to be late twice in a row, trying to be positive since things can happen in life which makes things difficult, having this happen once or twice is alright, however I would also have to address the fact that making this a regular habit is not good because of the strain that 20 extra minutes can have on a facility.

MemberJuly 4, 2024 at 6:42 pmThis is the third time in the last two weeks that Mrs. Hopkins has pickup her child late. Today she did not arrive until 20 minutes after closing time. What would you do?
It is important to open pick up such as a new work schedule. A routine pick up is important for both the child who is now off their routine and the staff members who have to stay later. Best case scenario is this is something that will be immediately fixed, but if it continued to happen it would need to be taken as a serious matter.
-
I would begin by asking the parent if there is anything that is keeping her from picking up the child on time. If she does have a reason we would come up with a solution together. If she does not I would remind her of the time that we no longer take care of children in a positive attitude.
-
In this scenario, I would approach Mrs. Hopkins with acknowledging the challenges she may be facing. I would ask if there are any specific reasons for her lateness and if there are any ways the center can support her in ensuring timely pick-ups in the future. Also, would like to explain what picking up late can do to child’s mental health how for example how they will feel their emotions etc. The goal would be to address the issues on both sides and try to balance inbetween.

MemberJuly 8, 2024 at 4:36 amCommunicate that 20 minutes is actually a lot of time and while we understand it may be work or traffic and not directly the parents fault the time difference effects not just the child that may not be able to stay in there familiar class room because the center is closed but also the staff that must stay behind try to find solutions that could better work for the parents child and provider
-
Serenity, it’s important to acknowledge the impact of late pickups on both the child and the staff. However, it’s also essential to have clear and consistent communication with Mrs. Hopkins about the importance of punctuality and the impact of her late pickups. While understanding her potential challenges with work or traffic, it’s necessary to find solutions that prioritize the well-being and routine of the child while also respecting the center’s closing time and the staff’s time. Open and respectful communication with Mrs. Hopkins is key to finding a resolution that works for everyone involved.

MemberJuly 8, 2024 at 5:26 amLet the parent know in a respectful way that Consistent lateness can disrupt the child’s routine and cause anxiety or distress, as they may feel abandoned or neglected when their parent is consistently late to pick them up. It can also inconvenience the childcare facility staff who may have other responsibilities or commitments after closing hours.
It is important for Mrs. Hopkins to recognize the impact of her actions on her child and the childcare facility. Open communication with the childcare provider is essential to address any underlying issues that may be causing the lateness. Mrs. Hopkins should make a concerted effort to arrive on time in the future to ensure the well-being of her child and maintain a positive relationship with the childcare facility.
