GuestJuly 22, 2025 at 6:04 pmThe state has rules prohibiting media use for children under two years of age. Our Center limits other media to once per week less than 2 hours.

GuestJuly 23, 2025 at 8:35 pmWe don’t have screen time at our childcare center. We will use a tablet for pictures and playing music but that’s about it. We like to encourage problem-solving skills, creativity, and lots of play with classroom toy and materials instead of screen time.

GuestJuly 24, 2025 at 4:46 pmscreen time is very limited. On our tablets are child-appropriate games that have been purchased by our center. YouTube has been taken off all tablets that children have access to. Our tablets are set up for 20 minutes per child per day.

GuestJuly 25, 2025 at 4:06 pmWe use to have rules saying no screen time but lately rooms are having the kids watch kids music videos as they are sitting and waiting for lunch in the one year old room. The other rooms 2 year through 5 often have they children moving and watch Danny Go or using other interactive videos on Youtube

GuestJuly 28, 2025 at 5:00 pmWe don’t use the screen in our center. We listen to music but we raise the screen so that nothing can be seen. Only when we do yoga is the only time we look at the screen.

GuestJuly 28, 2025 at 5:18 pmScreen time is limited to 15 minutes for the purpose of using an educational program that is used as a tool for assessment (HATCH). Besides this there is not screen time for any other programs.

As far as I know there are no written policies regarding screen time at my preschool but children have no access to screens during the day. There is a staff tablet used for taking pictures that are shared on the school online portal for parents to see what children are working on during the day. Other than this the only other instance of use of a screen in the school has been during the extended day program when a child has asked me to take a picture of their creation which could be an art project, sand castle or something built with blocks. In this instance I’ve used my phone and the child has then looked briefly at the picture on my phone. Our school day has no place for screens and our parent handbook discourages the use of screens in the morning as it has shown to negatively impact on classroom performance.
