Are there any rules set regarding screen time at your child care?

At our center, it goes along with Washington State Administrative Code. Screen time “must be educational, nonviolent, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive.” Alternative activities must be available, screen time must not be during meals or snacks. Screen time must be no more than one hour per day, and no more than 2.5 hours per week. We don’t use screen time with our toddlers and 2-year olds; for 3-5 year olds it’s connected to specific learning activities, or for special occasions.

I definitely agree with this. We are not allowed to give the kids screen time at our center because we don’t know obviously how the parents will feel about that or like any other like mental things like epilepsy and other things like that so he just take more precautions.

Our center has a rule for screen time that is not for educational purposes. We play a show on fridays, not more than 10 minutes.

At our center our students have little to no screen time, because we know that most children have plenty of screen time at home.

Screen time is frowned upon at our center. Our Director holds to a “1-hour per week” policy!

Yes, in our early learning program we are advised no more than a total of 30 minutes of any type of interactive screen time. This also restricts any screen use during meal times as well.

We do allow screentime at the beginning and end of the day. We don’t watch any shows with ads and there is rarely food in the shows.

Where I work, screen time is used only during free choice time and it is times so all children have the opportunity to share. The ipads include educational apps where the children can interact and learn at the same time.

We don’t do much screen time. Maybe a little show if its about the theme we’re doing for the week. Its maybe not even 2x a month. I feel kids need to be active and not just sitting in front of the TV

We don’t have screens at our daycare centre. Just a computer where we can play music and charting. We are not allowed to have our phone to set a good example to the children.
