A coloring page is a great way to remind kids how important it is to wash their hands.
Sin a song to make it more of an interactive activity.

GuestOctober 19, 2024 at 9:15 pmI use a timer that plays a fun song. I did this because I have had children who struggle to sing the ABC song and were not able to tell how long 20 seconds was. The timer also has lights in a “countdown” pattern that the kids love to watch.
-
Tracy, using a timer with a fun song and lights is a great way to engage and teach children about time.

GuestOctober 21, 2024 at 6:11 pmYou can use color changing soap or bubbles that disappear when hands are clean. This makes the hand washing process seem like a fun, magical experience.
-
Great suggestion, Megan! Using color-changing soap and disappearing bubbles can make hand washing fun and engaging for young children.

GuestOctober 21, 2024 at 7:04 pmYou can make handwashing fun for all kids by making it an adventure, you can sing songs and allow kids to use their imagination while washing their hands; example they can pretend that they just went on a bear hunt and the soap can be “mud” from falling in the mud from catching the bear “germs” and them the water could be giving the bear a bath and getting the bear all clean and washing the mud off of their hands.
-
Great idea, Hannah! Incorporating imaginative play into handwashing activities can make it fun and engaging for young children.

GuestOctober 28, 2024 at 3:42 amHow i make hand washing fun, is by 1. singing a hand washing song, that the kids often join in with, 2. i use it as a learning time and help the toddlers in my classroom do it by themselves,
-
Great ideas, Hayaat-rose! Incorporating a hand washing song and promoting independence is engaging and educational.

GuestOctober 29, 2024 at 9:07 pmI loved it when you use specific glo germ powder on the children hands and after they wash you use a black light to see if hands were fully washed. Be also cool to do a “germs” on your hands with something and children practice watching hands.
-
Great hands-on activity, Ralicia! Using glo germ powder and a black light is a fun and engaging way to teach kids about handwashing and germs.

GuestNovember 4, 2024 at 5:02 amUsually singing makes the hand washing process go smoothly and helps the children wash their hands for the proper amount of time. Noted favorite seems to be “Wheels on the Bus.”
-
It seems like you may have misunderstood the question. The topic is about hands-on science activities for young children.

GuestNovember 6, 2024 at 9:15 pmCreate handwashing activities, for example, use blown up surgical gloves with “dirt/germs” on them and have the children use “soapy” water to pretend like they are washing.
Teach them handwashing songs to sing along as they are washing their hands in the sink.
-
Great suggestion, Hillary! Hands-on and interactive activities make learning fun and memorable for young children.

GuestNovember 7, 2024 at 8:57 pmI usually like to make handwashing a game with kids who are more resistant with the task. For example, if two kids are washing at the same time, it can be a fun competition on who can get their the hands the “cleanest”! I’ve also found that taking the time to explain why handwashing is important and how it can help keep everyone healthy has made my students much more willing to wash their hands gladly in the past.
-
Great idea to make handwashing engaging and fun through friendly competition and explaining its importance to children!

GuestNovember 7, 2024 at 11:11 pmOne of my favorite hands-on science activities for young children is a simple nature scavenger hunt, where they explore outside to find different types of leaves, rocks, or insects. I make it engaging by giving them a checklist with pictures and encouraging them to describe what they find. I ask open-ended questions like, “What do you notice about this leaf?” or “Why do you think this bug is here?” This sparks their curiosity and helps them make observations about the world around them while having fun and exploring.
-
“Great idea, Angie! Nature scavenger hunts encourage exploration and curiosity while making observations. Well done!”
