    With my children. First, we put soap on the hands, a good amount. We rubbe ’em together singing the tune of old schoolhouse rock 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12, and then we sing it again while rinsing our hands, then we use paper towels to dry and we sing this is the way we dry our hands dry our hands. We love it

    When completing a handwashing task with a child, I find that turning it into a type of “game”, tends to make the task a little less dull and actually results in the child finding interest in copying the gestures I am making.

    We sing songs and when learning how to wash hands the first few times we used colored soap.

    I make handwashing fun by reminding them of what happens once they get their hands washed. Giving them something to look forward to while making it very routine helps make it easier.

    Some of my favorite science activities are puddle play, sand tables, and making various sensory substances, such as ooblek, playdough, or baking. I ask various questions, such as “what does it feel like? is it warm or cold? what does this remind you of? How many small scoops does it take to fill the big scoop?” and so on.

    Handwashing can be made fun with songs, prepping with age-appropriate videos, and using colorful foam soap.
