To make handwashing a fun and exciting activity for kids, I will sing a song along with them and count numbers(teaching math also accomplished in this way). then will give small stickers/stamp to encourage them

You could always turn it into some type of game where it’s fun and interactive.

I love singing with the children I work with to make transitionary, mundane tasks more engaging and exciting. For handwashing, I will come up with a song that is simple enough for the children to sing along to, perhaps making each finger a character in some way.

Make handwashing fun by singing songs, using colorful soap, or making bubbles. Try a handwashing dance or a timer with a fun sound. Use stickers or a reward chart to encourage good habits. Let kids pick their favorite soap scent or color!

Making bubbles with soap encourages children to thoroughly wash their hands with soap while having fun with bubbles.

I like to show kids how mixing colors together makes a new color. I love watching their faces light up when it does change.

Singing a song while washing your hands is not only a great way to make sure your hands are washed thoroughly, but also can help children learn how much time should be spent washing hands.

I like to make hand washing fun for students by encouraging a routine of following hand washing steps, singing the ABC’s to wash hands to point of bubbles and then acknowledge how proud you are you made bubbles and after to finish off the now I know my ABC’s by rinsing and saying bye bye germs

Some kids have a hard time scrubbing their hands or even getting soap, so I always like to sing a song to get them started and then have them join once there set with the water going!

Sing to the tune of Row, row, row your boat:

    Wash, wash, wash your hands

    Wash them every day

Rinse the soap and pat them dry

    Now you’re on your way

I like to have the children sing a song that is 15-20 seconds long. We switch up the songs based on what we’re learning and sometimes make them up or change them a little and that’s always fun for the kids.

A fun water experiment like “ Sink or Float” engage by letting them guess and test their ides. Then asking questions like “Why, did that happen.” They’re making observations, predictions, devolving critical thinking and curiosity.
