GuestMarch 5, 2023 at 11:36 pmIn my opinion having a pet in the classroom helps stimulate kids in a productive way. From past experiences as a student, the children in my 7th grade science class gained the necessary skills they’ve needed to develop healthy relationships, grades, as well as attitudes. The class pet was a guinea pig. So yes it is beneficial to having a class pet in a classroom setting.

Great point, Julienne. Yes !, pets stimulate learning and students approach learning with new enthusiasm and interest.

GuestMarch 14, 2023 at 2:09 pmI think that animals are a great teaching tool because many of the earliest songs that children learn are about animals and the sounds they make. As they get older, we progressed into families, life cycles and environmental homes for different kinds of animals. Many children have pets and it is always a good way to be able to talk about responsibilities and also to form bonds between children.

GuestMarch 28, 2023 at 10:48 pmI do think that using different animals can help interact with the children. Also having the children care for a pet can help the children express care and socialize with peers about caring .

GuestMarch 31, 2023 at 9:39 pmI like to tech my kids about cats and the meanings behind their ,tail twitch , purring , hissing, growling, fave nuzzles, love bites, meows, etc…They love to mimic the sounds and since I do home daycare they learn when it”s a good time to play with kitty and when it’s not.

GuestApril 12, 2023 at 5:31 pmMy partner and I believe that having an animal in the classroom would be disruptive to their learning and a distraction. There will always be some kid trying to hurt the animal to get a reaction out of other because most kids seek attention at young ages. We believe it would be better to have insects rather than hamsters, bunnys, cats, etc..

I feel that animals in the classroom can be an affect way to teach empathy, responsibility, and so much more. Animals are relaxing to look at, talk too, and interact with. Animals help to connect students that may feel shy, or overwhelmed to the classroom in ways that people cannot. I do not have any thoughts on how to incorporate an animal into the classroom. The schools that I have worked at do not and did not allow animals in the classroom due to the possibility of illness, bacteria, and other health issues of having small children exposed to the animals.

GuestApril 28, 2023 at 2:50 pmAs a child it’s important they see people who look like them. I grew up in an all white community where I was an Asian woman. It was horrible and hard to know none of my educators could be on the same level as I am.

GuestMay 29, 2023 at 8:33 pmAnimals are a great way to include in your curriculum and lesson plans. If you can bring a fossil in your classroom. You can definitely bring an animal in school with the director’s and parents permission before implementing the lesson in your classroom. As some children may be allergic to animals and/or pet dander. Fishes are a good example of having an aquarium in your class as you can tell stories and teach more about different types of sea creatures with an open-ended questions.
