    I try to have variety while still implementing a schedule. For example, we start the day by going outside but I will rotate the activity. We have three activity tables set up but the activities are rotated. So we stick to a specific schedule but the activities change.

    The center should be clean and safe. Safe also includes emotional safety such as being a mistake Friendly center that encourages asking for help.

    A good way to go about this is to be completely prepared in what you are going to say. Write down important talking points and brainstorm answers to any questions you feel they may ask. There may also be come questions that you are not qualified to answer, in this case it would be helpful to provide a resource for them to review, such as a support specialist at the school. However, it is always great to also incorporate the positives so families do not feel bombarded by the conversation.

    I would explain the late pickup policy and consequences. I would also touch base to see if there is anything that we can do on our side to help her be on time. Lastly, i would be transparent about reporting.

    1. Which WACs address diversity and collaboration with families? An early learning provider must provide culturally and racially diverse learning opportunities. Diverse learning opportunities must be demonstrated by the provider’s curriculum, activities, and materials that represent all children, families, and staff. A provider must use equipment and materials that include, but are not limited to:

      (a) Diverse dolls, books, pictures, games, or materials that do not reinforce stereotypes;

      (b) Diverse music from many cultures in children’s primary languages; and

      (c) A balance of different ethnic and cultural groups, ages, abilities, family styles, and genders.

      (2) An early learning provider must intervene appropriately to stop biased behavior displayed by children or adults including, but not limited to:

      (a) Redirecting an inappropriate conversation or behavior;

      (b) Being aware of situations that may involve bias and responding appropriately; and

      (c) Refusing to ignore bias.

    2. What big messages do the WACs give regarding diversity and collaboration? It places a large emphasis on it as well as familial collaboration to ensure the learning environment remains inclusive and safe.
