    An early learning provider can provide a serve and return environment by paying attention to all of the children and responding to them.

    1. WAC 110-300-0085 states that “an early learning provider must communicate with families to identify individual children’s developmental goals.”

    WAC-110-300-0030 talks about diversity by stating that early learning programs are “places of public accommodation and must not discriminate on basis of race, creed, color, national origin, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, class, age, religion or disability.

    2. The WACs give the message that all children, parents, and employees must be treated equally no matter what differences may be present.

    1. I would try to find an activity that does not require very much talking if there is a language barrier

    2. I will celebrate the unique characteristics by always showing the positives and not comparing them to other children

    3. I would help the other children get to know them by doing a get to know you activity that is mainly visual to help with the language barrier

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? I discovered that all of the WACs are extremely detailed.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I was not surprised by any of the WACs
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? The WACs will influence my day-to-day practices by ensuring I always have access to information in case I ever have any questions.
