I would have a private conversation with the parents about how it may make the child feel when they are left behind by a parent. They may feel forgotten or abandoned, sending them into a panic. It also is hard on staff who have to wait that extra 20 minutes to care for the child and clean up after they leave. The parent would receive a warning that this behavior cannot continue.

Many of the WACs include the idea that all cultures and backgrounds should be accepted and invited into schools. They advocate against school which do not include diverse programs or shy away from immigrant families of different lifestyles.

Often when our points of view differ, we can either show interest in the other point of view or regard it as a wrong point of view. I would say there are certain instances where we can change our point of view but often it is hard to shift that mindset. Things like life altering events, powerful speakers or movements, the influence of someone we value highly or love, these are all things that often help in shifting our perspective.

    1. I learned what the WACs actually were and each of their purposes in creating a safer learning space which promotes the development of young adolescents.

    2. I was really surprised by the physical constraints and that it would be allowed in any case. I now see the importance of it and how it can help keep teachers and other students from harm.

    3. With the WACs in mind, teachers can insure they are following regulations and laws to create a sfae space for kids. Day to day if we can keep these in mind than it allows children the freedom to learn and grow while also knowing they are safe and taken care of.
