    1. Which WACs address diversity and collaboration with families? When it comes to diversity, WAC 110-300-0160 states that early learning programs must respect and promote the diversity of children’s families and communities by recognizing and valuing said diversity in the early learning environment. Meanwhile, WAC 110-300-0320 states that early learning programs must engage with families actively by providing effective communication, respecting family diversity, and involving families in the development and implementation of learning plans.
    2. What big messages do the WACs give regarding diversity and collaboration? Regarding diversity and collaboration, the WACS give a message of commitment to fostering environments that are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the diverse needs of children. The critical role of collaborating with families is emphasized in the WACS.

    1. What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? The WACs are very detailed and are essential in enforcing standards that protect children, promote their development, and ensure high quality childcare.
    2. Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I was surprised with the amount of definitions in WAC 110-300-0005. It is super interesting to see but also helpful in understanding the WACs.
    3. Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes I can see how the WAC’s will influence my day-to-day practice in caring for children because the WACs act as a guideline on how to work with children. Everything from classroom environment to food handling to document keeping to the safety of children can be found in the WAC’s.
