I’d document what I saw or heard but avoid questioning the child, since that’s CPS’s job. It’s my responsibility as a mandated reporter to protect the child’s safety above all else.</p>

It’s so unpredictable and happens without warning, which makes it really scary. I’d want to be extra careful about safe sleep practices, like proper positioning and monitoring, because even with precautions, the uncertainty of it still worries me.</p>
