WACs 110-300-0160 and 110-300-0085 address diversity and collaboration with families. In general, the WACs seem to demonstrate the need for a wide representation of culture in the classroom for the purpose of community, relationships, and education. They also point to the importance of communication with families to create the best learning plan and environment for each child, and to ensure all parties understand the child’s education plan and goals.
What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? There are many requirements for staff to follow, ranging from licensing and training requirements to the allowance of certain practices.
Were you surprised by any of the WACs? No, most of them were common sense and clearly implemented.
Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes; many of them are required for me to follow as a childcare employee and will be influencing my actions and training.
