Encourage students to take part in building an initial schedule, while maintaining consistent roadblocks such as lunch, outdoor time, etc. Keep this schedule on the wall as a visual reminder, with visual aids.

Emotionally prepare to meet the parents where they’re at, as receiving this news can be difficult, and prepare for an array of responses. Practice with your co-teacher if possible.

Screen time is a divisive issue within education and raising children. Different rules within schools outside of the home can be aggravating to children. As adults, we must demonstrate restrictive screen time ourselves, which can be difficult for us! Evidence is clear that excessive screen time is harmful for children’s development, but in a world that is immersed in technology, we must find balance in introducing children to healthy relationships with technology and screens.

POINT OF VIEW: my religious background, where I was raised, personal experience under my cultural surroundings, and relationships can affect my point of view.
I absolutely think people can change their views! As for myself, I was much more close-minded and essentialist before living in Paris, NYC, and California through my early 20s. Exposing oneself to new people and living circumstances can expand one’s sense of beauty, potential relationships, and connection in the world.
