WAC 110-300-0160 discusses the expectations for promoting acceptance of diversity. All children and families must be represented in curriculum, activities, and materials. This includes toys, learning materials, music, games, etc. There must be a balance of different ethnic and cultural groups. Providers must intervene appropriately to stop biased behavior.
What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? The WACs very clearly layout rules and expectations for early childcare programs in Washington State.
Were you surprised by any of the WACs? Not really- I expected Washington State to have very high standards for early learning programs.
Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Yes- there are rules and regulations applicable to day-to-day operations and standards when providing services.
