If I felt that a child under my care needed a referral for developmental screening and I

brought it up with the child’s parents, I would start by sharing positives with them about their

child. I would be sure that the parent trusts that I care for their child and have their best

interest in mind, and then I would bring up my concerns.

2. Before talking to a parent or caregiver, I need to consider the amount of observing I have

done on the child, and I need to consider how confident I am in what I am observing.

To learn about children and their development we can use an anecdotal record, which is a

brief summary describing an incident of a child’s behavior that shows developmental growth. I

think pictures and videos are a great way to show how a child is developing.

I think a lot of screentime for little kids is bad and should be very limited. In my center we do have iPads for the teachers to use but we mainly put on music with them which engages the children. As seen from the research screentime puts kids at a, “higher risk of being overweight, prejudiced, sedentary, fearful, aggressive, and/or unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality” (Safe guard).

I would explain that the child is distraut and feels uneasy by the tardiness. i would also emphasize the importance of the center’s staff’s time and let her know that if this keeps happening the child will no longer attend the center.
