I just want to make sure everything is OK. Is the schedule no longer working for you?” Depending on the parent’s reply, I would reference any WACs that support the need to be on time (i.e. if it is over 10-hours) and then to the parent handbook policies.

WAC 110-300-0085 focuses on family engagement and partnerships; it encourages respectful, reciprocal relationships with families. It guides professionals in collaborating with parents through listening to their insights and involving them in decision-making.
Collaborating with our daycare families will empower us to be mindful of the necessary adaptations in our program to create an inclusive environment. Thus, these WACs go hand in hand.

What did you discover about the WACs while completing the activity? 110-300 outlines licensing requirements for child care centers in Washington state. It covers various aspects, including staff qualifications, health and safety standards, and program administration. I have been working in the WAC for quite some time, and did not discover anything new necessarily.

Were you surprised by any of the WACs? I continue to appreciate the detailed guidelines on staff-to-child ratios, sanitation practices, and emergency preparedness.

Can you see how the WACs will influence your day-to-day practice in caring for children? Why or why not? Absolutely! The WACs provide a framework for maintaining high-quality care. They impact daily practices by ensuring safety, promoting professional development, and guiding interactions with children and families. Compliance with these regulations is essential for effective child care provision.
