I don’t really have any tips yet, as I haven’t opened my childcare facility yet! However, I plan to make sure I have meal times and snack times covered and then go from there, as others have stated.

I think one really important area of a classroom is a cozy zone or calming corner. That way if a child needs to have some time to themself or just a little quiet reading time to become regulated again, they have the space to do that.

For baby’s and younger toddlers, I don’t think screen time is a good idea. For older kids however, It can be a fun treat or tool to use while making their lunch etc.

This is not the end all be all, but it is a handy thing to point to when discussing lateness. I think bringing it up to the parent on the day that they are late and letting them know that it’s something that can’t keep happening is better to do sooner than later. That being said, I supposed it depends on why they’re late and if this is the first time or the third time.

I like that our WAC’s make it very clear that diversity is to be celebrated and used as an opportunity for all to learn and be made welcome.

It’s so important to be able to work with the family to come up with strategies for specific kiddos. That includes lots of things that may make them different from other children in the care program.
